Butterflies - Farfalle -
Salvador, Brazil: We had just come out from a meeting in the health ministry when I saw these butterflies. I think that they are from Papilio family of butterflies (perhaps Papilio paeon?), a common species of butterflies in South America.

Green sheet - Lenzuolo verde -
Hue, Vietnam: Water Hyacinth plant originally came from south America and has spread to all lakes and ponds in the world. It is called a pest, soaking all oxygen from water, choking lakes, killing fishes and tortoises, etc. However, for some years, it is also used to clean polluted water and farmers use it as a fertilizer. To me it looks like a green sheet spread on the water and its light purple flowers with yellow spots remind me of peacock feathers.

Dresses - Vestiti -
Wen Shan, Yunnan, China: South of China has many indigenous tribal groups, that have got the possibility over the past couple of decades to wear their traditional dresses. I saw some rare men wearing the traditional dresses, mostly these were elderly women who wore them. Today's images present some examples of these traditional dresses.

Lake - Lago - झील
Austria, Klagenfurt: Beautiful lake surrounded by green and snow covered mountains in the distance, it would have been perfect had it been a little less sunny and hot!

Snakes-ladders - Serpenti e scale -
Salvador, Brazil: Huge roads, every thing so far away, and in between, never-ending bridges with tiny human beings. I don't know why they made me think of the childhood game, "Snakes and ladders", we used to play.

Old empires - Vecchi imperi -
Lisbon, Portugal: General Bandeira helped conquer Brazil for the Portuguese empire, and there are some Brazilian cities that still carry his name. But in the old city of Lisboa (Lisbon), the shine of the old empire is now wearing thin, like the dead or sleeping lion in the Bandeira monument.

Sick monkey - Scimmia malata -
Bombay, India: While the monkey was sitting on the balcony, looking around for things to eat, I was thinking how your profession changes the way you look at others, because I was looking at the tumour on his mandible and wondering what it could be?

Marriage - Matrimonio -
Kunming, China: Is culture so fragile that it is lost after a revolution? When I see newly wed chinese couples or the wedding dresses in the shops, I wonder about the customs and rituals of marriage before Mao's cultural revolution?

Statue - Statua -
Bologna, Italy: I love a statue in the Medieval Museum of the city. About 2.30 meters tall, this 700 years old bronze statue made in thirteenth century is of Popoe Boniface VIII.

Goiania, Brazil: Modern skyscrappers covered with glass are like vertical lakes reflecting the world around them. Greetings for Independence day of India.

Sailoress - Marinaia -
Graz, Austria: City centre has a group of statues with an old man in the middle and four women on the four corners. The statue of one of the women made me curious. She has a boat paddle or a spade next to her, I could not decide between the two. What do you think?

Men - Uomini -
Pakkam, Kerala, India: In ordinary life, women are more discriminated, but when it comes to images, I feel men are discriminated. During photography, people prefer taking pictures of women as they make more beautiful images. Perhaps this is because most photographers are men? Anyway, today's images have men from daily life in the houses along the backwaters near Cochin.

Yellow flowers - Fiori gialli -
In Brazil, sometimes I saw beautiful and strage flowers that I had never seen before, like this white crested yellow flower cone, that made me think of mango icecream.

Boats - Barche - नावें
Today's subject is Boats and the three images are from different countries. The question is, can you tell the names of these countries? Try. (Answer: Croatia, Vietnam and Greece)

Peacock - Pavone - मोर
Geneva, Switzerland: A dancing peacock in the gardens of U.N. building in Geneva.
