Ibis -

Scarlet ibis, Belem, Brazil - S. Deepak, 2011
Glossy ibis, Naivasha, Kenya - S. Deepak, 2012
Black headed ibis, Karnataka, India - S. Deepak, 2010

Species of ibis: There are 28 known species of ibis, a bird usually seen around lakes, rivers and marshes where it wades in shallow waters looking for food. In ancient Egypt it was considered sacred, due to its closeness to god Thot, the god of knowledge and is a common figure in hieroglyphics. Today's images have 3 species of ibis from 3 continents - scarlet ibis (Eudocimus ruber) from Brazil, glossy ibis (Plegadis falcinellus) from Kenya and black-headed ibis (Threskiornis melanocephalus) from India.
