Changing histories - Storie mutevoli - बदलते इतिहास

रोम, इटलीः आज जो बात हमें अन्याय लगती है क्या समय के साथ उसे देखने का तरीका बदल जायेगा? रोम के प्राचीन "फोरो", राजकीय केंद्र को देखो तो यही विचार मन में आता है. सौ साल पहले तक शहर का यह सारा हिस्सा धरती के नीचे दबा था, इस जगह पर घर थे. 1924 में मुस्सोलीनी के फासिस्ट सरकार ने, जो रोम साम्राज्य के प्राचीन गौरव की बात करती थी, तानाशाही फरमान से उन सब घरों को विध्वंस करा दिया और ईसा से 600 साल पहले की संस्कृति के इन चिन्हो की खुदायी शुरु करवायी जो करीब 15 वर्ष तक चली. तानाशाही सरकार और प्राचीन गौरव की बात न होती तो यह कभी नहीं हो पाता. लेकिन आज उस अन्याय की वजह से आप पुरातत्व के इन अवशेषों को देख सकते हैं.

Rome, Italy: Somethings that seem injustices today, with time, do we change the way we look at them? When you look at the antique "Foro Romano" in Rome, such thoughts are easy. Hundred years ago, all this area was buried under ground, full of hundreds of houses. In 1924, the fascist government under Mussolini wanted to glorify ancient Roman empire, got those houses demolished and started the excavations of these archeological remains of periods going back to 600 BC. The excavations went on for 15 years. With a dictator and his dreams of ancient glories, this could not have been possible. Today, because that injustice, you can admire these archeological ruins.

लंदन, ईग्लैंडः ट्रफालगर स्क्वायर में लगे फुव्वहारों की मूर्तियों के पास खड़ा था जब एक भारतीय परिवार पास से गुज़रा, जिसमें पिता छोटे बच्चे से कह रहा था "बेटा देखो, वह बच्चा कुल्ली कर रहा है." शायद वह बच्चा खाने के बाद मुँह ठीक से नहीं साफ़ करता था इसलिए उसका पिता बच्चे को सफाई का पाठ पढ़ाने का मौका नहीं खोना चाहता था. लेकिन अचानक मुझे लगा कि फुव्वहारे का नीला साफ़ पानी, घर के वाश बेसिन का गंदा पानी हो.

London, England: I was standing near one of the fountains in Trafalgar square, when an Indian family passed, and I heard the father say to his son, "Son, look the boy in the statue is cleaning his mouth." Probably the boy was not good at rinsing his mouth after eating and his father wanted to reinforce the message of personal hygeine, but suddenly I felt as if the blue water in that fountain was like dirty water in a washbasin.

लंदन के हाईगेट कब्रिस्तान में क्मयूनिस्म का पाठ पढ़ाने वाले दर्शक, अर्थशास्त्री और विचारक कार्ल मार्क्स भी दफ़न हैं. सोचता हूँ कि लंदन तो पूँजीवाद, उदारवाद, वैश्वीकरण की राजधानी है, वहाँ बेचारे मार्क्स जी को नींद कैसे आती होगी, कब्र में इधर से उधर करवटे तो नहीं बदलते होंगे?

Famous political ideologist, economist and philosopher Karl Marx is burried in High Gate cemetery in London. I was wondering that London is the centre of capitalism, liberalisation and globalisation, and how can Marx sleep there, perhaps he is turning around in his grave?

बोलोनिया, इटली: गर्मियों में बच्चों के साथ परिवार छुट्टियों पर चले जाते हैं और शहर में अधिकतर वृद्ध लोग रह जाते हैं जिनके पास छुट्टियों पर जाने के पैसे नहीं होते. ऐसे ही वृद्ध लोगों का एक क्लब हमारे घर के पास है जहाँ ताश के टूर्नामैंट, नृत्य, गाने के कार्यक्रम इत्यादि आयोजित किये जाते हैं ताकि लोग साथ हँस बैठ सकें. इसी सिलसिले में कुछ दिन पहले उन्होंने क्यूबा के नृत्यों का एक कार्यक्रम आयोजित किया था.

Bologna, Italy: In summer families with children usually go away for holidays and the city seems full of elderly persons, who can't afford the holidays. Near our house, the elderly persons have organised a kind of club, where they organise playing cards tournaments, dance and music shows, to be together. A few days ago they had a cuban dance show.

Vicino a nostra casa, gli anziani si riuniscono presso un centro sociale (Pescarola) dove organizzano diverse attività di divertimento per stare in allegra compagna. Qualche giorno fa avevano organizzato un programma di danze tra le quali, anche una danza cubana.

लंदन, ईंग्लैंड: पिछले 12 जून के ईरानी चुनावों के नतीजे निकले तो विपक्षी नेता मौसावी के समर्थक हरे रिब्बन और स्कार्फ पहने सड़कों पर विद्रोह में उतर आये, उनका कहना है कि चुनाव में धाँधली हुई है. इस विद्रोह को "हरी लहर" का नाम दिया गया है. परसों लंदन विश्वविद्यालय के बाल स्वास्थ्य संस्थान में मीटिंग से निकला तो रस्सल स्क्वायर के बाग के गेट पर इसी हरी लहर के कुछ ईरानी विद्यार्थी ज़मीन पर बैठे हुए, नारे लगाते दिखे.

London, England: after the elections of last 12 June in Iran, the supporters of the opposition leader Mousavi came out on the streets to protest "manipulated election results". This protest is continuing and has been called "green wave" as the protesters wear green scarfs and ribbons. Day before yesterday, as I came out of Institute of Child Health in London, I saw a group of Iranian student protesters in front of the gate of Russel square park.

Questa protesta continua e viene chiamata "l'onda verde" perché i protestanti portano sciarpe e nastri verdi. L'altro ieri ero a Londra, e quando sono uscito dall'istituto di salute del bambino, davanti al cancello del parco di Russel square, ho trovato un gruppo di studenti iraniani dell'onda verde.

बोलोनिया, इटलीः शाम का अँधेरा छाने लगता है तो लोग बाग में बाहर निकल आते हैं, उनमें बहुत से आसपास रहने वाले प्रवासी हैं. झील के आसपास चक्कर लगाते है. अँधेरा गहरा होता है तो बच्चों के झूलों पर रोशनियाँ जगमगाने लगती हैं. अँधेरे में लोग गप्प मारते हें, उनकी हँसी खुली हवा में गूँजती है.

Bologna, Italy: When the evening arrives, people come out in the park. Among them are many emigrants. They walk around the small lake. As the darkness descends, children's merry go rounds light up. In the darkness, people chat and their laughter rises up in the air.

बोलोनिया, इटलीः ग्रीष्म ऋतु के आते ही सारे शहर में सांस्कृतिक कार्यक्रमों का सिलसिला शुरु हो जाता है, हर रोज़ कुछ न कुछ होता रहता है. ऐसा ही एक कार्यक्रम था अफ्रीकी फैशन शो जिसमें प्रवासी अफ्रीकी महिलाओं ने एक स्थानीय एसोसिएशन में सिलाई सीख कर वस्त्र बनाये और उनका प्रदर्शन किया.

Bologna, Italy: As usual, with summer the cultural programmes have started and every evening there is something to see. I went to an African Fashion show organised by a local association where emigrant women had first learnt sewing and then presented their clothes in a fashion show in a park.

Sono andato a vedere una sfilata di moda africana in un parco vicino, organizzata da un'associazione locale, dove le donne emmigrate hanno prima imparato a cucire e poi presentato le loro creazioni in questa sfilata.

दिल्ली उच्च न्यायालय ने कानून धारा ३७७ को रद्द करने का फैसला लिया है. यह कानूनी धारा समलैंगिक सम्बंधों को अप्राकृतिक एवं अपराध देखती है. मेरे विचार में यह कानून मानव अधिकारों तथा जनतंत्रीय मूल्यों के विरुद्ध था. इस खुशी में प्रस्तुत हैं हाल में दिल्ली में हुई समलैंगिक गर्व परेड के कुछ तस्वीरें.

Delhi High Court has asked to cancel the law no. 377 of the Indian Penal code that looks at relationships between persons of same sex as an "un-natural practices" and criminalises homosexuality. I believe that this law is against the notions of human rights and democracy where all citizens are equal. On this happy occasion, here are a few pictures from the recent Queer Pride parade held in Delhi (India).

La Corte Superiore di Nuova Delhi ha chiesto il governo indiano di abrogare la legge n. 377 che definisce i rapporti tra le persone dello stesso sesso come "pratiche non naturali" e criminalizza l'omosessualità. Personalmente penso che questa legge sia contro i diritti umani e contro la democrazia, dove tutti i cittadini dovrebbero essere uguali. In questa felice occasione, ecco qualche foto dalla recente parata del orgoglio omosessuale svolasi a Nuova Delhi.
