Nehru's time - Tempo di Nehru - नेहरू का समय

Manali, H.P., India: I had never seen before a statue of India's first prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru. When I saw it, it made me reflect that it is not easy to understand famous persons' significance for the history during their life-times. When I think of those times I feel that the world was much simpler, but probably that is because in the childhood, good and bad seem easy to understand.

मनाली, हिमाचल प्रदेशः भारत के पहले प्रधानमंत्री जवाहरलाल नेहरू जी की मूर्ति पहले कहीं नहीं देखी थी. मूर्ति को देख कर सोच रहा था कि किसी व्यक्ति का इतिहास में क्या महत्व है, यह जानना समझना आसान नहीं, विषेशकर उसके जीवनकाल में. जब उस समय के बारे में सोचता हूँ तो लगता है कि विश्व तब इतना उलझा नहीं था. शायद यह बात उस समय की मेरी उम्र पर निर्भर करती है, बचपन में अच्छा बुरा सब बहुत आसान लगते हैं.

Manali, H.P., India: Non avevo mai visto prima una statua del primo primo-ministro dell'India, Jawaharlal Nehru. Quando l'ho vista ho pensato che è difficile capire il significato storico delle persone durante le loro vite. Quando penso a quei tempi, mi sembra che il mondo era molto più semplice allora, ma forse ciò era dovuto alla mia giovane età, quando siamo piccoli il buono e il cattivo sembrano tutti più facili da capire.

Old temple - Tempio vecchio - प्राचीन मन्दिर

Jagatsukh, Manali, India: There was a time when the king of Kullu valley lived here. Its old Gayatri Devi temple and the near by Shiva temple were famous. Now Jagatsukh is a small village where an occasional tourist stops briefly.

जगतसुख, मनाली, भारतः कभी यहाँ कुल्लू घाटी के राजा रहते थे, गायत्री देवी का यह प्राचीन मन्दिर और करीब का शिव मन्दिर प्रसिद्ध थे. आज जगतसुख छोटा सा गाँव है जहाँ भूले भटके कोई सैलानी पहुँच जाते हैं.

Dusshera prayers - Preghiere di Dusshera - दशहरा पूजा

Kullu, Himachal Pradesh, India: Dusshera symbolizes the victory of goodness over badness. However, is it easy to decide good and bad? Often what we do is considered as good and what others do is considered bad. The Dusshera of Kullu starts on the day of Vijaydakshami and Kullu's local gods and goddesses play an important role in it - some of them appear in Ramayana or Mahabharata, but many of them are not known in rest of India. Today's images have the Dusshera prayers - in the third image, you can also see Raja Maheshwar Singh, the old king of Kullu.

Spesso ciò che noi facciamo è considerato "buono" e quello che fanno gli altri, è considerato "il male". La dusshera di Kullu inizia il giorno di fine di questa festa nel resto dell'India. Diversi dei e dee locali giocano un ruolo importante nella festa, alcuni de quali appaiono nei testi come Ramayana o Mahabharata, ma molti di loro sono sconosciuti nel resto dell'India.
