Love & power - Amore e potere -

Vienna, Austria: When I saw the statue of Mark Antony, sitting on a carriage pulled by lions, I was shocked. In the 1963 film "Cleopatra", Elizabeth Taylor had played the role of Egyptian queen Cleopatra while her lover and Roman general Mark Antony was played by Richard Burton. At the end of the film both commit suicide. Even in paintings and sculpture, I had seen him as young and handsome looking. Thus to see him as corpulent, middle aged, cruel looking man, who exuded power rather than love, was naturally shocking!

    1. Thanks Mysay.in - I think those lions pulling Mark Antony's chariot are from imagination of the sculptor and not some historical fact! :)
