Bologna, Italy: The park near our home is called Louis Braille park, named for the person who had invented the Braille alphabet for the blind persons, that you can read by touching with fingers. Earlier other persons had tried to find ways so that blind children could read, such as by making words with bronze wires, that you could touch and read. However, those other methods were costly and while blind children could read them, they could not write through them. Braille was himself blind and rather than using the normal alphabet, he thought of making a new alphabet made of holes, through which blind persons can both read and write. Yesterday, in our park the local blind persons' association had organized a spring festival. Today's images have pictures of cool green from our park.
