Bangkok, Thailand: I had lost my way and reached there by chance - a temple shaped like a small hill, with tiny stairs on the two sides, with numerous tiny temples with pictures of dead persons all around the hill. I had heard of "spirit houses" where Thai persons keep the ashes of the dead family members, but this place seemed different. I felt that this shrine had some special significance. I asked the persons around but did not find anyone who spoke English. Perhaps someone who has more knowledge about Thailand can tell the role of this shrine?

ReplyDeleteI think it's called เขามอ (Kaomor) The garden which small hill
decorates small stupas and Bonsai. But I've never seen Kaomor with ashes of the dead people before.
Thanks Paunpipat :) Then it is apt to call it "strange shrine"! :)
