As a child, I liked to fantasise about living in a forest, surrounded by wild animals. Aravalli hills of Delhi that cross the city in its centre, extending from Delhi University on one end, passing through parts of Karol Bagh and going upto Dhaula Kuan on the other end, were a central part of my life and also the object of those fantasies. I would imagine a transparent house of glass, where I was going to live, while outside wild animals roamed. My imagination did not limit itself to Indian wildlife, along with lions, tigers, antelopes and deer, it also saw giraffes and zebras.
So when I come to kow of persons like Satyendra who live and work close to nature and wild-life, I remember that childhood dream.

सत्येंद्र मेरे एक मित्र के मित्र हैं और अपनी पत्नी के साथ बाँधवगढ़ जँग के पास रहते हैं. स्के कैंम्प, मध्यप्रदेश के उमरिया जिले में उनका घर, प्राकृतिक जीवन और जँगली जानवरों में दिलचस्पी रखने वाले पर्यटकों के लिए रहने का स्थान है.
जँगली जानवरों के बीच रहना, मेरी बचपन के खुली आँखों से देखने वाले सपनों मे से था. दिल्ली की अरावली पहाड़ियाँ जो दिल्ली विश्विद्यालय के पास से प्रारम्भ होती हैं और शहर के बीचों बीच करोलबाग से ले कर राजेंद्र नगर और बुद्ध जयंती बाग से हो कर धौला कूआँ तक जाती हैं, बचपन के जीवन का अभिन्न अँग थीं. गर्मियों में दोपहर को सोने की जगह घँटों सोचता कि सारा जँगल मेरा ही होगा जहाँ बीच में मैं शीशे के पारदर्शी घर में मैं पिंजरे में बंद रहूँगा और जँगल में आसपास जँगली जानवर खुले घूमेंगे. मेरी कल्पना उस जँगल में शेर, चीते, हिरनों के अलावा, ज़ेबरे और जिराफ़ भी देखती.
आज भी जब सत्येंद्र जैसे लोगों के बारे में जानने का मौका मिलता है जिनका जीवन जँगलों और प्रकृति के करीब है तो बचपन के उस सपने की याद आ जाती है.
आज की तस्वीरों का विषय है पशु पक्षी.
प्रकृति के नजदीक रहना उतना ही सुखद हैं, जितनी माँ की गोद.
