Warm earthy colours -

Nampula, Mozambique, April 2006: Normally, I am not fond of the warm earthy colours, the reds, dark browns, burnt Siennas. They tire me too quickly. I prefer cooler greens and blues especially if it is something that I am going to look at for a long time, like paintings for my home. But in pictures, the earthy warm colours can be very nice as you can see from the pictures below, taken in rural areas of Nampula.

I like the composition of the first picture. I did take separate pictures of the two human figures but I think that this composition with empty space between the two is much more interesting. This was taken during the lunch break of a training course in Anchilo.

I like this one too for the focus on the baby's face even while behind you can see the meeting where Anna was speaking to persons affected with leprosy in Namaita.

This is a more classical composition, nothing really special about it but I like the way child's colours reflect the colours of the house. This was taken near Rapale.

Colours of the sea in Ilha

Ilha do Mozambique, April 2006: The colours of Ilha are wonderful. Like this picture taken early in the morning, around 7 AM. After taking a long walk I had sat down on the parapet near a group of playing children, hoping that soon they will forget about me and allow me to take some candid pictures. That is when I saw him, walking below on the beach.

The coulours of the houses are wonderful in Ilha. Standing in this street, I felt that I was standing in the middle of a painting.

This picture was taken a zoom. They were so far away, walking on the beach behind the Portuguese fort. The picture came out much better than I had thought.
