While travelling from Ulaan Baator in Mongolia to Beijing in China, I saw some mountains and a river flowing next to them that gave an idea of the space needed by the river when its waters increase. A part of the river was flowing on the other side of the mountains. When I read about Uttarakhand, it seems that for promoting "progress", they have built along the river, closing it from the sides, so that the space for expansion is not enough.

Uttarakhand was the first thought which came to my mind too, even before going through the description... Beautifully captured...
ReplyDeleteEven China has really wild and uncontrolled construction along the rivers, though not on the river in the pictues, and they are also having terrible floods in Siachen.
