दक्षिण चीन का वह हिस्सा जिसकी सीमा वियतनाम, लाओस, थाईलैंड, बर्मा और भारत के अरुणाचल प्रदेश से मिलती है, विभिन्न पहाड़ी जनजातियों का क्षैत्र है. सदियों से एक जैसी भाषा और रीति रिवाज बाँटने वाली यह जनजातियाँ अब देशों की सीमाओं के दायरों मे बँध कर एक दूसरे से कट चुकी हैं. बढ़ते भूमण्डलीकरण ने इनके भविष्य में उन भाषाओं और रीति रिवाजों को खोना ही लिखा है. कुनमिंग में विभिन्न जातियों के लोकनर्तक होटलों में अपनी कला दिखाते हैं.

The part of south China that borders with Vietnam, Laos, Thailand, Myanmar & the Indian state of Arunachal Pradesh, is land of different mountain tribes. For centuries they shared similar languages and cultures but today, each caught in the boundaries of their country, they are losing touch with each other. Growing globalisation means that their distinctive languages & cultures will be lost. In Kunming, folk dancers from different ethnic groups show their art.
