Rijeka, Croatia: In these days I am on holidays in Bibione in north Italy. From here countries like Slovenia, Croatia and Montenegro are very close - you can go and come from there on the same day. Yesterday while watching some old pictures of my holidays here, I was thinking about the changes in this part of the world. In 1982 when I had come to Bibione for the first time, these countries did not exist. There was Yugoslavia and you needed a visa to cross the frontiers. Today's images are from a journey to Rijeka in Croatia some years ago, with examples of traditional, contemporary-religious and socialist art that give a glimpse of its recent history.

रिएका, क्रोएशियाः आजकल उत्तरी इटली में बिबयोने में छुट्टी पर हूँ, जहाँ से स्लोवेनिया, क्रोएशिया, मोन्तेनेग्रो जैसे देश बहुत करीब हैं. एक दिन में वहाँ से आ-जा सकते हैं.  कल पुरानी छुट्टियों की तस्वीरें देखीं तो सोच रहा था कि यहाँ की दुनिया कितनी बदल गयी. 1982 में जब बिबयोने पहली बार आया था तो यह सब देश नहीं थे. इनकी जगह युगोस्लाविया था और सरहद पार करने के लिए वीज़ा लेना पड़ता था. आज की तस्वीरों में कुछ वर्ष पहले की एक क्रोएशिया में रिएका यात्रा से जिसमें पाराम्परिक कला, समाजवादी कला तथा आधुनिक-धार्मिक कला के नमूने दिखते हैं, जिनमें यहाँ के इस इतिहास की झलक मिलती है.

Fiume, Croazia: In questi giorni sono a Bibione per ferie. Da qui paesi come Slovenia, Croazia e Montenegro sono vicini. Si può andare a visitarli e tornare nello stesso giorno. Ieri mentre guardavo le vecchie foto delle ferie qui, pensavo a quanto è cambiato il mondo. Nel 1982, quando ero venuto a Bibione per la prima volta, questi paesi non esistevano. Al loro posto vi era la Jugoslavia e per attraversare la frontiera era necessario un visto. Le foto di oggi sono da un viaggio a Fiume in Croazia qualche anno fa, che presenta tre esempi dell'arte tradizionale, contemporanea-religiosa e socialista, per dare un'idea della sua recente storia.
