Assamese Sari - Sari dell'Assam -

Sari is worn all over India, but in different ways. Most of the time, by looking at the way a woman is wearing sari, you can tell her state of origin. When I saw this group of women at Konark, I was sure that they are from a north-eastern state like Assam, Tripura or Manipur, but I am not sure about the exact state.

  1. Sorry to tell you. They are wearing NOT sari but CHADOR-MEKHELA as it is called in Assam. Yes, these women are from Assam and Chador- mekhela is a traditional Assamese dress. It is different from sari.
