Street Music - सड़क का संगीत

Ferrara in north of Italy, not very far from Bologna, has a beautiful medieval city centre built mostly in the twelfth and thirteenth centuries. This part of the city is wolrd heritage monument of UNESCO. Every year around the end of August, for one week the medieval alleys, squares of the city are filled by hundreds of street artists coming from all over the world for the annual buskers festival. The festival invites about 20 street music groups from different countries, for whom the organisers pay travel, boarding and lodging costs (no fees). Interested groups should fill in the form available at Ferrara-Buskers website before 31 May of each year. Other groups can get official accreditation that gives them the possibility to stay in Ferrara for a small cost.

फेरारा उत्तरी इटली का शहर है जहाँ का पुराना हिस्सा मध्ययुगीन काल में बाहरँवी और तैहरवीं शताब्दी में बना था. शहर का यह सारा भाग युनेस्को द्वारा समूचे मानव वर्ग की धरौहर घोषित किया गया है. हर वर्ष अगस्त के अंतिम दिनों में एक सप्ताह के लिए शहर की पुरानी गलियाँ और चौबारे देश विदेशों से आये कई सौ सड़क के कलाकारों के संगीत और कला से भर जाते हैं. समारोह के आयोजक हर साल विश्व से चुन कर २० सड़क के संगीतकारों को फेरारा आने का आमंत्रण देते हैं और उनकी यात्रा और रहने का सारा खर्च उठाते हैं (पर कोई पैसे नहीं देते) जो कलाकार यह आमंत्रण चाहते हैं उन्हें फेरारा बस्कर के अंतर्जाल पृष्ठ पर एक फोर्म हर वर्ष की 31 मई से पहले भरना चाहिए. उनके अतिरिक्त देश विदेश से कई सौ कलाकार जो आते हैं अगर वह 15 जून से पहले "सरकारी मेहमान" का फोर्म भरें तो उन्हें बहुत कम खर्च में फेरारा रहने की सुविधा मिलती है.

Two of groups that I liked most, both had an Indian connection. Bob, Billy and Budha in the first picture started in India where Bob had met Billy. Both have lived there for long time and know different musical instruments. Adrian Sykes of Sheelanagig group from UK, in the second picture, has also lived in India for some time learning tabla. However, there were no Indian groups out of the 237 groups participating in the festival.

दो संगीतकार गुट जो मुझे सबसे अच्छे लगे, दोनो का भारत से कुछ सम्बंध था. बाब, बिल और बुद्धा जो पहली तस्वीर में हैं वह भारत में ही प्राम्भ हुआ था जहाँ बाब और बिल मिले थे. एड्रियन साइक्स जो शीलानाजिग गुट में थे, नीचे दूसरी तस्वीर में, वह भी भारत में तबला सीखने के लिए कुछ समय तक रह चुके हैं. पर समारोह के २३७ गुटों में कोई भी भारतीय गुट नहीं था.

The festival is mainly for music groups and all official gusts are musicians. Some other groups of street artists can get official accreditation, like the acrobat musicians from Romania below.

यह समारोह मुख्यता संगीतकारों के लिए है और सभी आमंत्रित गुट संगीतकारों का ही होते हैं. बाकी के कलाकार "सरकारी मेहमानों" की श्रेणी में आ सकते हैं, जैसे कि रोमानिया के नट संगीकार अगली तस्वीर में.

Many artists put on special dresses to attract spectators like the musician from Ecuador dressed in Amerindian plumes, posing with a statue below.

Even if there were no musicians from India, India was very much there with this stand selling pictures.

For children there are many shows including colourful clowns.

बच्चों का दिल बहलाने के लिए भी बहुत कलाकार थे जैसे कि यह जोकर.

Strange "artists" also come to Ferrara to show off their art like this painter who paints while moving on skates.

अजीबोंगरीब "कलाकार" भी फेरारा आते हैं अपनी कला का प्रदर्शन करने जैसे यह चित्रकार जो पहियों पर घूमते हुए चित्र बनाते हैं.

Art on the street means that artist and spectators can interact and be part of the art jointly. To help this, during the festival Ferrara is full of masks, people offerig to paint on your face, people selling strange hats and clothes, so that you can also feel like an artist and dance with the music. In the last picture is a hat seller.

सड़क की कला का अर्थ है कि कलाकार और कलाप्रेमियों में दूरी न रहे, कलाकार और देखने वाले आपस में घुल मिल जायें और मिल कर कला बनायें. इसमें सहायता मिलती है रंगबिरगे मुखौटों से जिन्हें आप पहन सकते हैं, लोग रंग से आप के चेहरे पर कला बना सकते हैं, आप टेढ़ी मेढ़ी टोपियाँ पहन सकते है, ताकि आप भी स्वयं को कलाकार महसूस कर सकें और जब कोई संगीत भाये तो निसंकोच उसकी धुन पर सड़क पर नाच सकें. आखिरी तस्वीर है ऐसे ही एक टोपी बेचने वाले की.
