Bologna, Italy: Women with moustaches, the guy covered with pink colour, the guy holding the placard "I'm free to be a lesbian" ... once you come out of the norms created by society and culture, then our bodies, souls, desires, emotions, love, relationships ... everything seems so complex. They say that this freedom means that you are honest to yourself. To be honest to yourself is important, but it is also full of anxiety and complications. May be it depends upon my white hair, but I feel that desires are mirages, they keep on changing, how can you build lives running after desires? Today's images are from Gay Lesbian Bisexual Transgender Intersexual (GLBTI) Pride Parade of last year.

DeleteSocial atmosphere in India is a far cry from other nations whose culture is still a taboo in this holy land of ours. And that makes hard to be honest to oneself as one is surrounded by the dictates of a patriarchal society. Like the pictures.
ReplyDeleteI agree that society in India can be quite ruthless, so it is hard to be honest. But still today young people in India, compared to the past have a little more opportunities to be themselves. :)
