Pond temples - Stagni e templi - तालाब के मन्दिर

Ganiyari, Chattisgarh, India: In India's rural life, the nature and the sacred are intermixed. God is not there only inside the temple, s/he is also there in the tree and the pond, and in the soul of every being. This philosophy is evident in different aspects of daily lives. Yet in some parts of the life, this thinking gets deformed as in the caste related injustices. Today's images have some ponds and temples from Ganiyari village in Bilaspur district.

African Kori - Kori africano - अफ्रीकी कोरी

Washington D.C., USA: Some nature lovers wish that all zoos should be closed because they feel that keeping birds and animals in cages is cruelty. I feel that there can be nothing better than a zoo to teach children about the diversity, beauty and importance of nature. Today's images have African Kori bustard from the zoo in Washington DC. It is also known as "gum eater bird" as it eats the gummy raisin from the stems of Acacia trees.

Washington D.C., Stati Uniti: Alcuni amanti della natura vorrebbero chiudere tutti gli zoo perché credono che tenere animali e uccelli nelle gabbie è crudele. Penso che gli zoo possono essere i luoghi migliori per fare capire ai bambini la diversità, la bellezza e l'importanza della natura. Le foto di oggi hanno gli uccelli africani Koro Bustard dallo zoo di Washington. Lo chiamano anche "Uccello che mangia la colla" perché questi mangiano la resina che esce dai tronchi degli alberi di Acacia.

Sky crossings - Incroci nel cielo - आसमानी चौराहे

Trento, Italy: Yesterday while walking through mountains, I was looking at the traces of exhaust from the airplanes above. Those traces make such beautiful designs in the sky. Lot of planes pass here, about every 5 or 10 minutes. And, I wondered how much pollution they cause?

त्रेन्तो, इटलीः कल पहाड़ों के बीच सैर करते हुए, उपर से गुज़रने वाले हवाई जहाज़ों के छोड़े धूँए के निशानों को देख रहा था. इन निशानों से आकाश में सुन्दर आकृतियाँ बनती हैं. यहाँ से बहुत हवाई जहाज़ गुजरते हैं, करीब करीब हर पाँच दस मिनट में. सोचा कि क्या इनसे भी वातावरण प्रदूषित होता होगा?

Trento, Italia: Ieri mentre camminavamo in montagna, guardavo le tracce lasciate dai fumi degli aerei che passavano sopra. Quelle tracce fanno dei disegni molto belli nel cielo. Qui passano tanti aerei, uno ogni 5-10 minuti. E, mi chiedevo quanto inquinamento causeranno questi?

Heart cups - Coppe del cuore - दिल के प्याले

Assam, India: In the south-west periphery of Guwahati there is a huge wetland-marshland-lake area called "Deepor Beel". It is a protected area and it contains numerous examples of bio-diversity of plants and animals. It has many medicinal plants. Today's images have the leaves of some plants floating on the water surface from there, including some natural water-cups in beautiful shapes.

असम, भारतः गुवाहाटी शहर के दक्षिण पश्चिमी कोने पर "दीपोर बील" नाम की दलदली झील है जो एक प्राकृतिक संरक्षित क्षेत्र है. यहाँ जीव तथा वनस्पति जगत की विविधता के हज़ारों उदाहरण मिलते हैं. उनमें कई चिकित्सा-गुण वाले पौधे भी हैं. आज की तस्वीरों में वहाँ से पानी की सतह पर तैरने वाले पौधों के पत्ते जिनमें कुछ मनमोहक आकारों वाले पानी के प्राकृतिक दोने लगते हैं.

Assam, India: Alla periferia sud-occidentale di Guwahati vi è una grande area di palude-lago-bagnasciuga conosciuta come "Deepor beel". E' un'area protetta e contiene numerosi esempi della biodiversità delle piante e degli animali, compreso diverse piante medicinali. Le immagini di oggi hanno le foglie di alcune piante che galleggiano sulla superficie dell'acqua, compreso alcune coppe d'acqua naturali con delle bellissime forme.

Elephant bath - Bagno degli elefanti - हाथी स्नान

Assam, India: Going around on elephants in the Kaziranga protected forest is very popular among tourists. Thus, they have some domesticated elephants. February is also the period when they start burning the tall elephant grass in the forest so that life-giving new grass can come out. Today's images have the morning bathing-cleaning rituals for the domesticated elephants, while in the background you can see the forest fires.

असम, भारतः काज़ीरंगा के संरक्षित वन में हाथी पर बैठ कर सैर करना पर्यटकों में बहुत लोकप्रिय है. इसके लिए वहाँ कुछ पालतू हाथी हैं. फरवरी के माह में काज़ीरंगा की ऊँची हाथीघास को जलाने का समय भी है जिससे वन में जीवनदायी नयी घास उगती है. आज की तस्वीरों में काज़ीरंगा के पालतू हाथियों का सुबह नहलाने धुलाने का कार्यक्रम तथा पीछे जंगल में लगी आग की लपटें.

Assam, India: E' molto popolare tra i turisti visitare la foresta protetta di Kaziranga seduti sugli elefanti. Per questo hanno alcuni elefanti addomesticati. Febbraio è anche il mese quando cominciano a bruciare l'alta "erba dell'elefante" affinché possa nascere la nuova erba necessaria per la vita degli animali. Le immagini di oggi hanno i bagni e la pulizia degli elefanti addomesticati, mentre sullo sfondo si vedono le fiamme che bruciano l'erba.

Garbage birds - Uccelli delle mondizie - कूड़ा पक्षी

Guwahati, Assam, India: Greater Adjutant storks are nature's "cleaning birds", who feed on dead animals and garbage. Once they were common all over Asia, now they are left only in a few parts of Assam and a small number is in Cambodia. In Boragaon in the south-west of Guwahati, where the city's garbage is collected, they can be seen in large numbers as in the 3rd image where they can be seen along with cows.

गुवाहाटी, भारतः हाड़गिला प्रकृति के "स्वच्छता कर्मचारी" पक्षी हैं, क्योंकि यह मृत पशु पक्षियों तथा कूड़े को साफ़ करते हैं. कभी यह पक्षी सारे एशिया में अधिक संख्या में पाये जाते थे, आज यह केवल असम के कुछ भागों में बचे हैं या फ़िर कुछ थोड़े से पक्षी कम्बोडिया में हैं. गुवाहाटी के दक्षिण पश्चिमी भाग में बोरागाँव में, जहाँ शहर का कूड़ा एकत्रित होता है, बहुत से हाड़गिला दिखते हैं जैसा की तीसरी तस्वीर में देख सकते हैं जिसमें इन पक्षियों के साथ गायें भी दिखती हैं.

Guwahati, Assam, India: Marabù maggiore asiatico sono gli "uccelli della pulizia" della natura perché si alimentano di carcasse e di rifiuti. Una volta erano presenti in tutta l'Asia, mentre ora sono rimasti soltanto in alcune parti dell'Assam e un piccolo numero si trova in Cambogia. Nel quartiere di Boragaon, nella parte sud-occidentale di Guwahati, dove si raccolgono i rifiuti della città, molte di queste cicogne sono presenti come si vede nella terza immagine, dove sono insieme alle mucche.

Thirsty warthog - Facocero assettato - प्यासी सूअर

Gorongosa, Mozambqiue: Probably she was pregnant and lived some where close to the entrance of the national park. She never looked at us, walking slowly she went to the small fountain surrounded by stones. When she found that the fountain was dry, still walking slowly, she disappeared in the middle of the trees.

गोरन्गोज़ा, मोजाम्बीकः शायद वह गर्भवति थी और नेशनल पार्क प्रवेश द्वार के करीब ही कहीं रहती थी. उसने हमारी ओर रुक कर नहीं देखा, मँथर गति से चलती सीधा पत्थरों के बीच बने फुव्वारे की ओर गयी. फ़िर जब देखा कि फुव्वारा सूखा था तो वैसे ही धीरे धीरे चल कर पेड़ों के बीच में चली गयी.

Gorongosa, Mozambico: Probabilmente era in cinta e abitava nei dintorni dell'entrata del parco nazionale. Senza guardarci era andata lentamente verso la piccola fontana circondata dalle pietre. Quando aveva trovato la fontana asciutta, sempre con il passo lento, era scomparsa in mezzo agli alberi.

Wild buffalo - Bufalo selvatico ‍- जँगली भैंसा

Kaziranga, Assam, India: Only a few thousands of wild bufflaoes are left in the world and 90 per cent of them are in Assam in India. Even their future is uncertain.

काज़ीरंगा, असम, भारतः दुनिया में केवल कुछ हज़ार जँगली भैंसें बची हैं, जिनमें से करीब 90 प्रतिशत भारत में असम में हैं. उनका भविष्य भी खतरे में है.

Kaziranga, Assam, India: Soltanto poche migliaia di bufali selvatici restano nel mondo e il 90 per cento di questi si trova nello stato di Assam in India. Anche il loro futuro è incerto.

Rock colours - Colori delle rocce - चट्टानों के रंग

Naivasha, Kenya: Many thousand kilometers long Rift valley crosses over the heart of Africa. Looking at the rocks, I was wondering about their different colours. I think that the white colour in the third image is caused by pigeon or bird shit. Today's images have the different colours of the rocks in the valley.

नईवाशा, कीनियाः कई हज़ार किलोमीटर लम्बी रिफ्ट घाटी अफ्रीका के हृदय के बीच से गुजरती है.  वहाँ की चट्टानों को देखते हुए उनके भिन्न रंगों के बारे में सोच रहा था. मेरे विचार में तीसरी तस्वीर का सफेद रंग कबूतरों या अन्य पक्षियों की बीट की वजह से हैं. आज की तस्वीरों में घाटी की चट्टानों के रंग.

Naivasha, Kenya: La grande fossa tettonica (Rift valley), lunga qualche migliaia di chilometri, passa attraverso il cuore dell'Africa. Mentre guardavo le rocce, mi chiedevo dei loro diversi colori. Penso che il bianco della terza immagine è dovuto alla cacca dei piccioni o di altri uccelli. Le immagini di oggi hanno i diversi colori delle rocce della valle.

Ugly beauty - Brutta bellezza - भद्दी सुन्दरता

Guwahati, Assam, India: In the centre of the city, that lake was hidden behind houses. It looked beautiful in the evening light. There was even a path along it for leisurely walking. However, at places there were mounds of garbage, and some of them were burning. When I asked a man about the name of that lake, he laughed and said that it was not a lake but just dirty water and that the government is planning to build a beautiful park in that place.

गुवाहाटी, असमः शहर के बीचों बीच की वह झील घरों के पीछे छुपी थी. संध्या की रोशनी में सुन्दर लग रही थी. झील के साथ साथ सैर करने के लिए रास्ता भी बना था. पर कई जगह कूड़े के ढेर लगे थे, कहीं कूड़ा जल रहा था. एक व्यक्ति से उस झील का नाम पूछा तो वह हँसा, बोला झील नहीं है, गन्दा नाला है, पर सुना है कि सरकार यहाँ सुन्दर पार्क बनायेगी.

Guwahati, Assam, India: Nel centro della città, quel lago era nascosto dietro le case. Nella luce della sera sembrava bello. Vi era anche un percorso lungo le acque per le passeggiate. Ma in alcuni posti vi erano ammassati i rifiuti e alcuni mucchietti bruciavano. Quando ho chiesto ad un uomo il nome di quel lago, si è messo a ridere e ha risposto che quello non era un lago, era acqua sporca ma che il governo intende costruire un bel parco in quel posto.

Living together - Vivere insieme - साथ रहना

India: Different animals and birds can live together and be useful to each other. Three such examples are presented - cattle egret and cow, eagle and crows, and spotted deer and crows. Crows and egrets eat the insects that live as parasites on the bodies of other birds and animals, therefore those birds and animals are happy to live together with them.

भारतः विभिन्न पशु पक्षी साथ रह कर एक दूसरे के काम आते हैं, जिसके तीन उदाहरण पस्तुत हैं - बगुला और गाय, गरुण व कौवा तथा चीतल हिरण व कौवा. कौवे और बगुले अन्य पशु पक्षियों के शरीर से कीड़े खाते हैं इसलिए वह पशु पक्षी उनके साथ रहना पसंद करते हैं.

India: Diversi animali e uccelli possono vivere insieme ed essere utili uno all'altro. Si presentano tre esempi  - mucca e garzetta, aquila e corvo, e cervo macchiato e corvo. Corvi e garzette mangiano gli insetti che vivono come parassiti sui corpi di altri animali e uccelli, per cui questi li accettano volentieri come compagni.

Evening deer - Cervi alla sera - संध्या के हिरण

Delhi, India: Are you for or against the zoos? Some animal lovers say that keeping animals and birds in the zoos is inhuman and against the nature. I think that we kill millions of birds and animals every year. So many species are already extinct. Thus, I feel children should learn about animals, birds and the nature, they should be taught to love the nature, for which zoos can play a useful role. Therefore, I am for having the zoos, but with large open spaces and not with small cages. Today's images have brown deer and black bucks on an evening in the Delhi zoo.

दिल्ली, भारतः आप के विचार में चिड़ियाघर होने चाहिये या नहीं? बहुत से पशु प्रेमी कहते हैं कि चिड़ियाघर में पशु पक्षियों को बन्द करना अमानवीय और प्रकृति के विरुद्ध है. मैं सोचता हूँ कि मानव हर साल अपने स्वार्थ के लिए लाखों करोड़ों पशु पक्षियों को मारता है, जाने कितनी नस्लें हैं जो पृथ्वी से लुप्त हो चुकी हैं. इसलिए मेरे विचार में बच्चों को पशु, पक्षी, प्रकृति सबकी समझ देना आवश्यक है और उन्हें प्रकृति से प्यार करना सिखाना चाहिये, जिसमें चिड़ियाघर भी उपयोगी हैं. मेरा विचार है कि चिड़ियाघर होने चाहिये, पर खुली जगहों वाले, छोटे पिँजरों वाले नहीं. आज की तस्वीरों में दिल्ली के चिड़ियाघर में संध्याकाल में भूरे व काले हिरण.

Delhi, India: Siete per o contro gli zoo? Alcuni amanti degli animali sostengono che tenere gli animali e gli uccelli negli zoo è inumano e contro la natura. Penso che ammazziamo milioni di animali e uccelli ogni anno, diverse specie sono già scomparse dalla terra. Per cui penso che sia fondamentale insegnare ai bambini a conoscere gli animali, gli uccelli e la natura affinché possono amarli, e gli zoo possono giocare un ruolo utile in questo. Sono per gli zoo, ma con gli ampi spazi aperti e non con le piccole gabbie. Le immagini di oggi sono di una sera allo zoo di Delhi con i cervi marrone e neri.

Ponds & temples - Laghetti e templi - तलैया और मन्दिर

Ganiyari, district Bilaspur, India: The village is surrounded by beautiful small and large ponds. Each pond has its own little temple. However, certain parts of the ponds' boundaries are used as open-air toilets. When it rains, everything flows down inside the ponds.

गनियारी, जिला बिलासपुर, छत्तीसगढ़ः गाँव चारों ओर से सुन्दर ताल तलैयों से घिरा है. हर तलैया का अपना छोटा सा मन्दिर भी है. पर बहुत से तालाबों  के किनारों के कुछ हिस्से खुले आकाश के नीचे बने शौचालय हैं. जब बारिश आती है तो सब कुछ नीचे बह कर इन सुन्दर तालाबों के जल में मिल जाता है.

Ganiyari, distretto di Bilaspur, India: Il villaggio é circondato da laghi e laghetti molto belli. Ogni laghetto ha anche un suo tempietto. Purtroppo alcune parti dei bordi dei laghetti sono usati come toilet al cielo aperto per cui quando piove, tutto si sposta giù nelle acque dei laghetti.

Jerusalem, Israel: Near Jaffa gate there was an exhibition of colourful earth globes, "Cool Globes". Each globe touched on some specific aspect of life on earth - importance of fruits in the diet, reducing pollution, recycling, environmental protection, etc.

जेरूसल्म, ईज़राइलः जाफ्फा द्वार पर रंगबिरंगी पृथ्वी के ग्लोबों की प्रर्दशनी लगी थी, "कूलग्लोबज़". हर ग्लोब जीवन के किसी पहलू से पहचान कराता था - खाने में फ़लों का महत्व, प्रदूषण कम करने का महत्व, वस्तुओं के प्रयोग के बाद उनका दोबारा से उपयोग करने का महत्व, प्रकृति के संरक्षण का महत्व, इत्यादि.

Gerusalemme, Israele: Vicino a Jaffa Gate, vi era una mostra dei globi multi-colori, "Cool Globes". Ogni globo presentava qualche aspetto specifico della vita sulla terra - importanza di avere frutta nella dieta, ridurre inquinamento, riciclaggio,  protezione ambientale, ecc.
