Fear's mother - Mamma della paura - डर की माँ

Lausanne, Switzerland: Outside the central library there are two sphinxes. Their faces and chests are like a woman, eagle's wings and body of a lion. The Sphinx used to ask riddles to the persons and those who could not answer, she used to eat. I feel that the legend of Sphinx is similar to the story of Sursa in Ramayan who meets Hanuman when he is going to Lanka. Though she has the face of a woman, in Arabic language, the Sphinx is called Abu-Al-Haul, or the father of fear.

लोज़ान्न, स्विटज़रलैंडः केन्द्रीय पुस्तकालय के बाहर दो खम्बों पर मिस्री स्फिँक्स हैं, जिनके चेहरे और वक्ष नारी के हैं, पँख गरुण के तथा शरीर शेर का. गुजरने वाले यात्रियों से स्फिँक्स पहेली पूछती और जो सही उत्तर नहीं देता उसे खा जाती. मेरे विचार में स्फिँक्स की कहानी रामायण की सिरसा से मिलती है जो लँका जाते हुए हनुमान को रोक लेती है. हाँलाकि उसका चेहरा नारी का है, अरबी भाषा में स्फिँक्स को अबूअलहोल यानि डर का बाप कहते हैं.

Losanna, Svizzera: Fuori dalla biblioteca centrale vi sono due colonne con il sfinge. Le loro facce e petti sono di una donna, le ali sono di un falco e i corpi sono di un leone. La sfinge chiedeva indovinelli ai passanti e se non riuscivano a risponderle li mangiava. Mi sembra che la leggenda di Sfinge si assomigli a quelli di Sursa in Ramayana in India che Hanuman incontra nel suo viaggio verso Lanka. Anche la sua faccia è di una donna, in arabo la chiamano Abu al'haul o il papà della paura.

Olympic art - Arte olimpica - ओलिम्पिक कला

Lausanne, Switzerland: There was a period, between 1912 and 1948, when art competitions were part of the Olympic games. These art competitions were organised in 5 domains - architecture, literature, music, paintings and sculptures. You can see some of the olympic award winning sculptures in the gardens of the international Olympic museum. Over the past few weeks I have shown some of them on this blog. Today's images are also of an olympic award winner sculpture. The original sculpture of wrestlers was by Hungerian artist Milthiades Manno and it had received second prize in 1932 Olympic games, while the images shown above are of a copy in bigger size by Hungerian artist Ibolya Torok.  

लोज़ान, स्विट्ज़रलैंडः एक समय था, सन 1912 से 1948 के बीच, जब कला प्रतियोगिताएँ भी ओलिम्पिक खेलों का हिस्सा होती थीं. इन कला प्रतियागिताओं में पाँच विधाएँ थीं - वास्तुशास्त्र, साहित्य, संगीत, चित्रकला तथा शिल्पकला. अंतर्राष्ट्रीय ओलिम्पक संग्रहालय में  शिल्पकला विधा में ओलिम्पिक पुरस्कार पानी वाली शिल्पकला के कुछ नमूने देखे जा सकते हैं. पिछले कुछ दिनों में इस ब्लाग पर मैंने इनकी कुछ तस्वीरें प्रस्तुत की हैं. आज की तस्वीरें भी ऐसी ही एक कला को प्रदर्शित करती हैं. कुश्ती करने वालों की इस मूर्ति को मूल रूप से हँगरी के मिल्थियाडेस मन्नो ने बनाया था तथा इसे 1932 के ओलिम्पिक खेलों में दूसरा स्थान मिला था. तस्वीरों की मूर्ति उसी मूल कलाकृति की बड़े आकार की नकल है जिसे हँगरी के इबोल्या टूरुक ने बनाया है.

Losanna, Svizzera: C'era un periodo, tra il 1912 e il 1948, quando anche l'arte faceva parte dei giochi olimpici. I concorsi legati all'arte erano organizzati in 5 aree - architettura, letteratura, musica, dipinti e sculture. Potete vedere alcune sculture premiate ai giochi olimpici nei giardini del museo olimpico internazionale. Nei giorni scorsi ho presentato alcune foto di queste sculture su questo blog. Anche le immagini di oggi sono di una scultura olimpica - l'originale era dell'artista ungherese Milthiades Manno e aveva vinto il secondo premio ai giochi olimpici del 1932. Le scultura delle immagini è una copia in formato più grande dell'artista ungherese Ibolya Torok.

Flying Finn - Finn volante - उड़ता फिन्न

Lausanne, Switzerland: Paavo Nurmi, a runner from Finland became a legend in international running competitions in the beginning of twentieth century and was called the "Flying Finn". He made 22 world records and in Olympic games he won 9 gold and 3 silver medals. In races of 800 metres and above, he consecutively won 121 times. Today's images have the statue of Paavo Nurmi from Olympic museum by Finnish artist Waino Aaltonen.

लोज़ान्न, स्विटज़रलैंडः फिन्नलैंड के दौड़ने वाले एथलीट पावो नुर्मी ने बीसवीं शताब्दी के प्रारम्भ में अंतर्राष्ट्रीय दौड़ों में जीत कर "उड़नेवाले फिन्न" का खिताब पाया. उन्होंने 22 विश्व रिकार्ड बनाये और ओलिम्पिक प्रतियोगिताओं में 9 स्वर्ण पदक तथा 3 चाँदी के पदक जीते. 800 मीटर से लम्बी दूरी वाली दौड़ों में उन्होंने लगातार 121 प्रतियोगिताएँ जीतीं. आज की तस्वीरों में अंतर्राष्ट्रीय ओलिम्पिक संग्रहालय से फिनलैंड के कलाकार वाइनो आल्टोनेन की कलाकृति में "पावो नुर्मी".

Losanna, Svizzera: Paavo Nurmi, un corridore finlandese era diventato una legenda al inizio del ventesimo secolo per aver vinto numerose gare di corsa internazionali e veniva chiamato il "finlandese volante". Aveva stabilito 22 record mondiali e vinto 9 medaglie d'oro e 3 d'argento olimpiche. Nelle corse superiori a 800 metri aveva vinto 121 gare consecutive. Nelle immagini di oggi, la statua di Paavo Nurmi presso il museo olimpico, opera dell'artista finlandese Waino Aaltonen.

Bicycle race - Gara ciclistica - साईकल दौड़

Lausanne, Switzerland: Among all the sports related sculptures at the International Olympic Museum, my favourite is the gruop of cyclists by Hungerian artist Gabor Mihaly.

Wrestler - Lottatore - पहलवान

Lausanne, Switzerland: Sculpture of the "Nude giant" by French artist Rembrandt Bugatti at the International Olympic museum. The original sculpture was from 1907, and I thought that statue's face looked very similar to the American actor and politician Arnold Schwarzenegger.

लोज़ान्न, स्विटज़रलैंडः अंतर्राष्ट्रीय ओलिम्पिक संग्रहालय से फ्राँस के शिल्पकार रेम्ब्राँट बुगात्ती की कलाकृति का "नग्न भीम". इसकी मूल कलाकृति 1907 में बनायी गयी थी, और मुझे लगा कि मूर्ति का चेहरा अमरीकी नेता व अभिनेता आर्नोल्ड श्वार्सनेग्गर से मिलता है!

Two athletes - Due atleti - दो एथलीट

Lausanne, Switzerland: At the entrance of the International Olympic museum there are two headless human statues, one male and one female. They represent all the young people of the world who take part in the Olympic competitions.

लोज़ान्न, स्विटज़रलैंडः अंतर्राष्ट्रीय ओलिम्पिक संग्रहालय के द्वार पर दो सिर विहीन मानव मूर्तियाँ हैं, एक पुरुष तथा दूसरी स्त्री. यह दुनिया के उन सभी युवक युवतियों के प्रतीक हैं जोकि ओलिम्पिक खेलों में हिस्सा लेते हैं.
