West Jaintia Hills district, Meghalaya, India: I like clicking pictures of children, especially when they do not know that someone is taking their pictures, and their expressions are natural. Once they know, often they make faces or they look very serious. Today's images have three close-ups of young girls.

North-East, India: In the big cities you can occasionally see young fathers carrying small babies. However in the villages, carrying small babies is exclusively a female responsibility. In villages if men carry a small baby then people question their masculinity. Today's images are from Nagaland, Assam and Meghalaya in the North-east and show a mother, a grand-mother and a sister carrying small babies.

Though he did not believe in fascisim, he had also taken help from Germany and Japan in the second world war. Today's images have the Neta ji's statue from Shillong.

Meghalaya, India: I have come back to Meghalaya after 5 years. Meghalaya means "home of clouds" and true to its name, it has been raining every day. Today's images are about ordinary lives of ordinary persons.

Meghalaya, India: An ordinary day and some ordinary lives. I don't know why but I see a sadness in these images, or may be it is tiredness or loneliness?

Meghalaya, India: Barapaani (literally "Big waters") lake on the way from Guwahati to Shillong is called Umiam in Khasi language. It was created by building of a dam on Umiam river in 1964. A Khasi mythology story says that two sisters were coming down from the sky to earth, but one was lost on the way, and the river Umiam was created by the tears of the sister who reached the earth. Due to the rising population of Shillong and the cutting of the trees from the surrounding hills, lake pollution is increasing and because of the silt, its ground level is rising.
