Roman ruins - Rovine romane - रोमन खँडहर

Vienna, Austria: In the Schonenbrun royal palace, the roman ruins were constructed in eighteenth century. In the foreground these include statues of Danube and Enn rivers in human forms.

Poet's inspiration - Ispirazione poetica - कवि की प्रेरणा

Trieste, Italy: A panorama of the old ruins and the surroundings seen from the roof of the Duino castle. This castle belonged to the Austrian royal family. Before the first world war, in 1911, the well known poet Rainer Maria Rilke had stayed here as a guest and written the poems known as "Duino elegies".

त्रिएस्ते, इटलीः दुइनो के किले की छत से वहाँ के पुराने किले और आसपास का विहँगम दृश्य. यह किला आस्ट्रिया के राजघराने का था. प्रथम विश्व युद्ध से पहले,  1911 में सुप्रसिद्ध कवि राइनर मरिया रिल्के यहाँ मेहमान बन कर रहे थे तथा यहीं उन्होंने "दुइनो एलेजीस" शीर्षक की कविताएँ लिखीं थीं.

Trieste, Italia: Un panorama delle vecchie rovine e i dintorni visti dal terrazzo del castello di Duino. Questo castello era dei reali austriaci. Water horses - Cavalli Acquatici - जल अश्व

Vienna, Austria: The myths of water horses were common in Scotland where the monster of Lochness lake was described as a horse with webbed hoofs and a fish like tail. The fountain of the sea god Neptune built in Schonbrunn, the royal palace of Vienna, in 1780, has on the top Neptune with the sea goddess Thetis, while at lower level there are Neptune's soldiers Tritons, half men and half fishes. They are accompnaied by water horses who are supposed to pull the chariot of Neptune.

वियेना, आस्ट्रियाः पानी में रहने वाले मिथिक घोड़ों की कहानियाँ स्कॉटलैंड में प्रचलित थीं जहाँ लोकनेस्स झील में रहनेवाले दानव को घोड़े की तरह बताते थे, जिसके खुर बतख जैसे होते थे और पूँछ मछली जैसी. 1780 में जब वियेना के राजमहल शॉनबरुन्न में समुद्र देवता नेपच्यून यानि वरुण का फुव्वारा बनाया गया तो उसमें ऊपर वरुण तथा समुद्र की यवनी देवी थेटिस थे, नीचे वरुण के सिपाही ट्रिटोन जो आधे पुरुष आधे मछली थे. उनके साथ वरुण का रथ खींचने वाले पानी के घोड़े थे.

Vienna, Austria: I miti dei cavalli acquatici erano popolari in Scozia dove il mostro del lago di Lochness era descritto come un cavallo con i zoccoli palmati e la coda di pesce. La fontana dedicata al dio del mare Nettuno costruita nel palazzo reale di Vienna "Schonbrunn" nel 1780, ha in cima il Nettuno con la dea del mare Teti mentre sotto vi sono i soldati di Nettuno, i tritoni, metà uomini e metà pesci. Sono accompagnati dai cavalli acquatici, i quali devono tirare la carrozza di Nettuno.

Pillars of stories - Colonne delle storie - कथाओं के खम्बे

Today's images present stories depicted on pillars from 3 countries. The first image is of Vienna (Austria) cathedral built in 1726 that shows the life of St Karl and other Christian saints. The second image is from Jorhat (Assam, India) with a column built in 2000 that depicts local life and the freedom fighters. The third image is from Rome (Italy) with the two thousand years old pillar made for emperor Trajan showing his victory in a war. 

आज की तस्वीरों में 3 विभिन्न देशों में खम्बों पर बनी कहानियाँ हैं. पहली तस्वीर सन् 1726 में बना वियेना (आस्ट्रिया) का केथेड्रल है जिसमें खम्बे में केथेड्रल के संत कार्ल तथा अन्य ईसाई संतों का जीवन दिखाया गया है. दूसरी तस्वीर जोरहाट (असम, भारत) से है जिसमें सन् 2000 में बने खम्बे पर स्थानीय जीवन तथा स्वतंत्रता सैनानियों को दिखाया गया है. तीसरी तस्वीर रोम (इटली) से है जिसमें करीब दो हज़ार वर्ष पुराने रोमन सम्राट त्राजन के समय के बना खम्बा है, जो उनकी युद्ध में विजय की कथा दिखाता है.

River surfing - Surf sul fiume - नदी पर सर्फिन्ग

Graz, Austria: Graz has 6 universities and is called the city of students. There, on a bridge on Mur river, we saw a young man tying a rope. Then he went down and with the help of that rope and a surf board, started grappling against the fast current of the river.

ग्राज़, ऑस्ट्रियाः ग्राज़ में 6 विश्वविद्यालय हैं और इसे विद्यार्थियों का शहर कहते हैं. वहीं मूर नदी के पुल पर एक युवक को रस्सी बाँधते देखा. फ़िर वह नीचे जा कर उसी रस्सी के सहारे नीचे नदी में सर्फबोर्ड पर लहरों से जूझने लगा!

Graz, Austria: Graz ha 6 università ed è chiamata la città degli studenti. La, su un ponte sul fiume Mur abbiamo visto un giovane legare una corda. Poi lui scese giù e con l'aiuto della corda e di un surf board, iniziò a lottare contro la corrente del fiume.

Street beds - Letti per strada - सड़क पर बिस्तर

Vienna, Austria: In the museum and theatre area of the city, there are colourful plastic "beds" on which people relax. These have tube like spaces underneath. I was thinking that in winter, homeless persons may like to sleep in those tubes to escape the cold.

वियेना, ऑस्ट्रियाः शहर के नाटकघर व संग्रहालय वाले हिस्से में प्लास्टिक के रंगबिरंगे "बिस्तर" थे जिन पर लोग पसरे रहते थे. उनके नीचे नली जैसी जगह बनी थीं. सोचता था कि सड़क पर सोने वाले लोगों को सर्दियों की रातों में उस नली में सोने से सर्दी कम लगेगी!

Vienna, Austria: Nella zona dei musei e dei teatri, vi sono dei "letti" di plastica multicolori sui quali le persone si rilassano. Questi hanno degli spazi sotto, come dei tubi. Pensavo che in inverno, le persone senza casa vorranno dormire dentro quei tubi per sfuggire al freddo.

Fearing suffering - Paura del male - पीड़ा का डर

Vienna, Austria: In 1836, actor and drammatist Ferdinand Raimund was 46 years old when he was bitten by a dog. Afraid that the dog was rabid and he will die an atrocious and painful death, he had preferred to shoot and kill himself. The rabies vaccine was invented in 1885. Today's images have Ferdinand Raimund memorial from Vienna.

वियेना, ऑस्ट्रियाः सन् 1836 में अभिनेता व नाटककार फेरडिनान्ड रायमुन्ड 46 वर्ष के थे जब उन्हें कुत्ते ने काटा. उन्हें भय था कि वह कुत्ता पागल था और उनकी मृत्यू रेबिज़ की बीमारी से तड़प तड़प के होगी. जिससे उन्होंने स्वयं को गोली मार कर आत्महत्या करना बेहतर समझा. रेबीज़ की वेक्सीन का आविष्कार 1885 में हुआ था. आज की तस्वीरों में वियेना से फेरडिनान्ड रायमुन्ड स्मारक.

Avendo paura che il cane fosse rabbioso e della morte dolorosa che lo aspettava, lui aveva preferito spararsi e suicidare. Il vaccino contro la rabbia fu scoperto nel 1885. Evening light - Luce serale - संध्या ज्योति

Vienna, Austria: The blue-green dome of Karlskirche (St. Charles church) lit in the evening sun attracted me. On going closer, I liked the way that dome reflected in a small pond in front. The Greek style entrance, two columns inspired from Trajan's column in Rome, the modern sculpture "Hill arches" by Henry Moore in the pond - in spite of being a mishmash of different styles, the total effect was very pleasing.

वियेना, ओस्ट्रियाः डूबते सूर्य की किरणों में रंगे कार्ल्सकिर्शे (सैंट चार्ल्स चर्च) के हरे-नीले गुम्बज ने मुझे आकर्षित किया. पास जा कर देखा तो सामने छोटे से तालाब में प्रतिबिम्बित होता गुम्बज और भी सुन्दर दिख रहा था. यवनी शैली में बना प्रवेश द्वार, रोमन त्रोइआनों के खम्बे से प्रेरित दो खम्बे, सामने हेनरी मूर की आधुनिक कलाकृति "पहाड़ी मेहराबें" - विभिन्न शैलियों की खिचड़ी मिलाने के बावज़ूद कुल प्रभाव बहुत सुन्दर लगा.

Vienna, Austria: Ero attratto dalla cupola verde-azzurra di Karlskirche (Chiesa di san Carlo) illuminata dalla luce del tramonto. Quando sono arrivato più vicino, mi è piaciuto come la cupola si riflette nel laghetto di fronte. L'entrata in stile greco, le due colonne ispirate dalla colonna di Troiano a Roma, la scultura moderna "Archi della collina" di Henry Moore nel laghetto - nonostante il miscuglio di stili, l'effetto complessivo è molto piacevole.
