Singing rooster - Cantagallo - मुर्गे का गान

Divonne les Bains, France: In the 18th century during the French revolution, singing rooster was considered as the national symbol. Old name of France was Gallus, the land of Gauls, but Gallus also means rooster. As the rooster crows early in the morning, it is considered as the symbol of light after darkness. For all these reasons, many war memorials in France have a singing rooster. Today's images show such a war memorial where the rooster is standing on the dying German eagle.

दिवोन ले बाँ, फ्राँसः अठाहरवीं शताब्दी में जब फ्राँस में क्राँती हुई तो उसका प्रतीक माना गाया बाँग देता हुआ मुर्गा. फ्राँस का प्राचीन नाम गालुस था, जो कि वहाँ रहने वाले गौल जाति के लोगों से बना था, पर जिसका अन्य अर्थ मुर्गा भी था. चूँकि मुर्गा सुबह पौ फटने से पहले बाँग देता है इसलिए उसे अँधेरे से रोशनी में जाने का भी प्रतीक माना जाता है. इस सभी वजहों से फ्राँस में बहुत से विश्व युद्ध स्मारकों में बाँग देते हुए मुर्गे को दिखाते हैं. आज की तस्वीरों में एक ऐसा ही स्मारक है जिसमें मुर्गे को मरते हुए जर्मन गरुड़ की छाती पर खड़ा दिखाया गया है.

Divonne les Bains, Francia: Nella revoluzione francese del 18° secolo, il cantagallo era considerato un simbolo nazionale. Il vecchio nome di Francia era Gallus, dovuto ai popoli Galli. Dato che il gallo canta presto alla mattina, è considerato anche il simbolo della luce dopo il buio. Per tutti questi motivi, in Francia i monumenti alle grandi guerre spesso hanno la figura del gallo che canta. Le immagini di oggi hanno un simile monumento dove il cantagallo sta sopra l'aquila morente, simbolo della Germania.

Mr. Electricity - Signor Elettricità - श्रीमान बिजली

Lyon, France: While Alessandro Volta in north Italy was inventing the battery, around the same period, in the near-by south of France, physicist and mathematician Andre-Marie Ampere (1775-1836) was researching the electro-magnetic force. His name was given to the electric measurement units called "Ampere".

लियोँ, फ्राँसः जब अलेसाँद्रो वोल्ता उत्तरी इटली में बैटरी का आविष्कार कर रहे थे, उसी के आसपास करीब ही दक्षिण फ्राँस में भौतिकी व गणित वैज्ञानिक श्री आँद्रे-मारि आमपेर (1775-1836) विद्युत-चुम्बकीय शक्ति की खोज कर रहे थे. उनके नाम से बिजली मापने के लिए "आम्पीयर" मापदँड बना.

Lyon, Francia: Mentre Alessandro Volta nel nord Italia inventava la pila, intorno a quel periodo, nel vicino sud della Francia, fisico e matematico André-Marie Ampère (1775-1836) lavorava per scoprire le forze elettromagnetiche. Il suo nome ha dato l'unità di misura della corrente elettrica, "ampere".

City lights - Luci della città - शहर की रोशनियाँ

Lyon, France: If a city has a hill and there is a cool evening breeze, it is wonderful to stand there and watch the city lights down below. If the companion of your heart is with you, then it is even more beautiful. But if you are alone, it is the time when you miss your partner more. Today's images have the city of Lyon seen from the Fourvier hill.

लियों, फ्राँसः अगर शहर के पास कोई पहाड़ी हो तो शाम को जब ठँडी हवा हो तो वहाँ से नीचे शहर की रोशनियाँ देखना अच्छा लगता है. उस समय आप के दिल का साथी  आप के साथ हो तो और भी अच्छा और अगर न हो, तो अपनी तन्हाई कितनी चुभती है! आज की तस्वीरों में लियों शहर की रोशनियाँ फूरवियेर की पहाड़ी से.

Lione, Francia: Se la città ha una collina e quando c'è una piacevole brezza serale, è meraviglioso stare là e guardare le luci della città sotto. Se il compagno del vostro cuore è con voi, è ancora più bello. Invece se siete da soli, è il momento che il compagno (la compagna) vi manca di più. Unknown city - Città sconosciuta - अजनबी शहर

Lyon, France: I had come back after 20 years and it was late at night, but I was not worried. I had thought that it was city I knew well, so it will not be difficult to find my hotel. But as I came out of the station, I stopped in surprize. It was the same old station where I used to catch the train every day, but everything looked strange.  The square outside the station, the old statues, everything looked new to me. Perhaps they were new to me, because 20 years ago I hardly ever used to stop and look at things? Only friends, talking and having a good time had mattered. It was not the city that had changed, I had.

लियोँ, फ्राँसः बीस साल बाद यहाँ लौटा था और रात भी बहुत हो गयी थी, लेकिन मैं निश्चिन्त था. सोच रहा था कि यह तो अपना जाना पहचाना शहर था, होटल खोजने में दिक्कत नहीं होगी. पर स्टेशन से बाहर निकला तो हैरान रह गया. यह वही स्टेशन था जहाँ से हर रोज़ ट्रेन लेता था पर सब कुछ अजनबी सा लग रहा था. वह स्टेशन के बाहर का स्कावयर, पुरानी मूर्तियाँ, लगा जैसे पहली बार देख रहा हूँ. शायद यह सच ही था, बीस साल पहले वाला मैं रुक कर किसी जगह या चीज़ को कहाँ देखता था? केवल दोस्त, गप्पें और मस्ती, यही महत्वपूर्ण थे. शहर नहीं बदला था, मैं बदल गया था.

Lione, Francia: Ero tornato dopo 20 anni ed era tardi, ma non ero preoccupato. Avevo pensato che era una città che conoscevo bene, per cui non sarebbe stato difficile trovare il mio hotel. Ma quando sono uscito dalla stazione, mi fermai sorpreso. Era sempre la stessa vecchia stazione dove prendevo il treno tutti i giorni, ma tutto mi sembrava sconosciuto. La piazza fuori dalla stazione, le vecchie statue, erano tutte nuove per me. Forse erano nuove per me perché 20 anni fa non mi fermavo a guardare le cose? Allora mi importavano soltanto gli amici, le chiacchiere e il divertimento, nient'altro. Non era la città che era cambiata, ero io.

Alps - Alpi - एल्प

Chamonix, France: Yesterday morning when we started from Geneva, the sky was cloudy. By the time we reached Mont Blanc tunnel that connects France with Italy, sun was shining and Alps looked wonderful in their splendid imponence.

शामोनी, फ्राँसः कल सुबह जब जेनेवा से चले थे तो कुछ बादल छाये थे, लेकिन जब फ्राँस और इटली को जोड़नी वाली श्वेत पहाड़ (मोंट ब्लांक) सुरंग तक पहुँचे सुन्दर धूप निकल आयी थी और एल्प के पहाड़ अपनी भव्यता में मनमोहक लग रहे थे.

Chamonix, Francia: Ieri quando eravamo partiti da Ginevra, il cielo era un po' nuvoloso, ma quando siamo arrivati al tunnel del monte bianco che collega Francia all'Italia, c'era il sole e le Alpi erano meravigliose nel loro splendore imponente.
