Hidden village - Villaggio nascosto - छुपा गाँव

बैकाक, थाईलैंडः शहर के बीचों बीच, महानक किले के साथ में, दीवार के पीछे एक गाँव छुपा है. छोटे से दरवाज़े से अन्दर घुसिये तो लगता है कि समय की उड़ान से पुराने समय में पहुँच गये हों. इस गाँव में एक ओर पक्षी बेचने वालों का हिस्सा है, जहाँ मधुर कँठ वाले पक्षी भी हैं और लड़ाई के लिए तैयार किये जाने वाले वियतनामी और बर्मी मूल के मुर्गे भी. शहर से घिरा, नदी और किले के दीवार के बीच में बसा यह प्राचीन गाँव कुछ समय का महमान है, कहते हैं यहाँ नये भवन बनेगे. इस तरह कि जगह देखने को मिलती हैं तो गुलाम अली का गीत याद आ जाता है, "इस दश्त में इक शहर था, वो क्या हुआ, आवारागी".

Bangkok, Thailand: Right in the middle of the city, between the walls of the Mahanak fort and the river canal, there is the ancient Mahanak village. As you enter through its small unassuming door, you are transported back into time. One of this village belongs to bird sellers. Among them there are singing birds as well as cocks of Burmese and Vietnamese origin, reared for the cock fights. Like every where else, it seems they would like to make new buildings on this place.

Bangkok, Tailandia: Nel bel mezzo della città, stretto tra le mura della vecchia fortezza di Mahanak e gli argini del fiume, c'è questo vecchio villaggio. Quando entri dentro dalla piccola porta, ti sembra di essere tornato in dietro nel tempo. In una parte del villaggio vivono gli allevatori di uccelli. Tra questi vi sono ucellini conosciuti per il loro canto e vi sono anche i galli di origine vietnamita e birmana, allevati per le lotte. Si dice che presto sorgeranno nuovi edifici in questi spazio.

Cracked face - Faccia screpolata - दरारों वाला चेहरा

बोलोनिया, इटलीः पिछले दिनों यहाँ कला मेला लगा था जहाँ देश विदेशों से आये कलाकारों को अपनी कला दिखाने का मौका मिला था. कला मेले में तो जाने का समय नहीं मिला, लेकिन कल इसी मेले की एक कलाकृति देखी जिसे नगरपालिका के भवन में रखा गया है. इस दरारों वाले चेहरे को बनाने वाले शिल्पकार हैं पोलैंड के ईगोर मिटोराज जो अपने पुरुष चेहरों के शिल्प के लिए जाने जाते हैं. यह कलाकृति उन्होंने १९९७ में बनायी थी. चेहरे में मुझे अजँता के बुद्ध चित्रों की झलक दिखती है.

Bologna, Italy: I was unable to go to see the annual art tradefair of Bologna but in the municipality building I saw one of the sculptures from the exhibitions. The cracked face is the work of an artist of Polish origin, Igor Mitoraj, who is well known for his male faces. This sculpture is from 1997 and I see the influence of Buddhist paintings from Ajanta caves in India in it.

Bologna, Italia: Non ho avuto l'opportunità di andare a visitare l'Arte fiera quest'anno, ma ho visto una delle sculture della mostra nel cortile del Palazzo d'Accursio in centro. Si chiama "Tindaro screpolato" ed è il lavoro del artista di orgine polacche, Igor Mitoraj, consciuto per le sue sculture maschili. Questo lavoro è del 1997 e mi fa pensare alle figure nei quadri buddhisti dalle grotte di Ajanta in India.

Saint's protection - Protezione del santo - संतों की शरण

मँदिर से गँडा बँधवा लो, या दरगाह पर तावीज़ बनवा लो, जब मन में डर बैठे तो इस तरह की बातें हर धर्म के लोग करते हैं. विवाह के कुछ दिनों के बाद मेरा एक्सीडेंट हुआ तो पत्नी अपने एक संत की माला ले आयी तो अपने मन में विश्वास न होते हुए भी एक बार पहनी तो तब से कभी नहीं उतारी. इटली के पादोवा शहर के संत एंथोनी शायद ईसाई धर्म के सबसे अधिक लोकप्रिय संत हैं और उनके गिरजाघर पर लोग सारी दुनिया से तीर्थयात्रा के लिए आते हैं. आज की तस्वीरों का विषय संत एंथोनी का गिरजाघर है.

Seeking the protection of gods and saints is common with all religions. Thus soon after my marriage when I had an accident, my wife brought me a medal of her favourite saint, father Leopoldo. Even though I don't believe in such protection, but I have always worn that medal for her. Saint Anthony of Padua is probably the most famous christian saint. People from all over the world come to his chruch for pilgrimage. Today's pictures are of Saint Anthony church in Padua, not very far from Venice.

Cercare la protezione degli dei e dei santi è una pratica comune in tutte le religioni. Poco dopo il mio matrimonio, per la mia protezione mia moglie mi chiese di portare la medaglia di padre Leopoldo. Anche se non credevo nella protezione, da allora ho sempre portato quella medaglia. Forse sant'Antonio di Padova è il santo cattolico più famoso del mondo, pellegrini vengono da tutto il mondo per visitare la sua chiesa. Le foto di oggi sono della chiesa di Sant'Antonio di Padova.
