Flight - Volo - उड़ान

मँगोलियाः उव्स मँगोलिया की सबसे बड़ी खारे पानी की झील है जो देश के उत्तर पश्चिम में साईबेरिया (रूस) की सीमा पर है. जिस दिन हम लोग वहाँ गये थे, घने बादल छाये थे और तेज़ हवा चल रही थी. मैं वहाँ इतने सारे सामुद्रिक पक्षी देख कर बहुत चकित और खुश हुआ. मुझे लड़कपन में रिचर्ड बाख की किताब, "जोनाथन लिविंगटन सीगल" बहुत अच्छी लगी थी, शायद इसीलिए यह पक्षी मुझे इतना आकर्षित करते हैं. उस दिन मैंने उन पक्षियों की बहुत तस्वीरें खींचीं, हालाँकि यह नहीं मालूम की इस पक्षी का हिंदी में क्या नाम है.

Mongolia: Uvs lake is the biggest salt water lake in Mongolia, in the north west of the country close to border with Siberia (Russia). The day we visited it, it was cloudy and windy, and I was mesmerised by so many seagulls. I had loved Richard Bach's book, "Jonathan Livingston Seagull" and perhaps that is why these sea birds fascinate me. So I clicked lot of pictures of the seagulls.

Mongolia: Il lago di Uvs è il più grande lago di acqua salata in Mongolia e si trova nel nord ovest del paese vicino alla frontiera con Siberia (Russia). Il giorno che siamo andati a visitarlo, era molto nuvoloso e c'era un vento forte. Sono rimasto ipnotizzato dai gabbiani. Mi era piaciuto molto il libro di Richard Bach, "Il gabbiano Jonathan Livingston", e forse per questo motivo mi sento così affascinato da questi uccelli. Così quel giorno ho scattato molte foto dei gabbiani.

Joker - Pagliaccio - विदूषक

फैरारा, इटलीः हर वर्ष की तरह इस वर्ष भी हम लोग फैरारा के बस्कर फैस्टीवल यानि सड़क के कलाकारों के फैस्टीवल में गये जहाँ विभिन्न देशों से सड़क पर अपनी कला दिखाने वाले लोग बुलाये जाते हैं. इस बार के फैस्टीवल से तीन रँगबिरंगी पौशाकों वाले विदूषक प्रस्तुत हैं, जिनका काम है बच्चों का मनोरँजन.

New old art - Arte vecchia nuova - पुरानी नयी कला

सन ज्योवान्नी पेरसिचेत्तो, इटलीः इटली के छोटे छोटे मध्ययुगीन शहरों में हौड़ लगी रहती है कि कैसे पर्यटकों को अपनी ओर आकर्शित किया जाये. ऐसा ही छोटा सा शहर है सन ज्योवान्नी जो पिछले कई सालों से अपने कार्नेवाल के लिए प्रसिद्ध हो रहा है. इस साल अगस्त में उन्होंने एक अन्य तरीका खोजा पर्यटकों को बुलाने के लिए, कुछ आधुनिक कलाकारों से कहा कि प्राचीन जानी मानी मूर्तियों को दोबारा बनायें, उनमें कुछ नया जोड़ कर. यह सब नयी पुरानी मूर्तियाँ पुराने मध्ययुगीन शहर की गलियों में एक महीने तक खुले में लगी हैं जहाँ आप इन्हें निशुल्क देखिये और पहचानने की कोशिश कीजिये कि प्राचीन मूर्ती में क्या नया जोड़ा गया है?

San Giovanni in Persicetto, Italy: Italy is full of small, beautiful maedival towns, who often try to find ingenious ways to attract tourists. San Giovanni is such city that has become known for its carneval. This August they have another attraction, modern artists remaking old well known statues adding something new to them.

Proud citizens - Cittadini orgogliosi - गर्वपूर्ण नागरिक

बेजिंग, चीनः प्रसिद्ध तियानामेन स्क्वायर में एक तरफ़ है चेयरमेन माओ का समृति स्थल और दूसरी ओर, संसद भवन के सामने का विशाल स्क्वायर, खुला चौबारा जिसके एक कोने पर यह मुर्तियाँ बनी हैं जिनमें चीन के गर्वित नागरिकों को दिखाया गया है कि कितने स्वस्थ और हट्टे कट्टे हैं, कैसे काम करके खुश हैं और देश की तरक्की को बढ़ा रहे हैं. समाजवादी देशों में इस तरह की मूर्तियाँ जिनमें किसान, फैक्टरी में काम करनेवाले, सिपाही, जैसे सामान्य लोगों को दिखाया जाता है.

Beijing, China: The well known Tian-a-men square has the Mao mausoleum on one side and the parliament on the other, with this huge square that has a group of statues on one end. The statues showcase the proud chinese citizens, who are healthy, tall and happy working for the progress of the nation. Socialist countries always have such statues that show farmers, factory workers, infantrymen, etc.

Pecchino, Cina: La famosa piazza Tian-a-men ha il mausoleo di Mao da una parte e il parlamento dall'altra, davanti alla quale c'è questa enorme piazza che ospita un gruppo di statue ad una estremità. Le statue presentano i lavoratori felici e sani della Cina, i quali lavorano per rendere il paese più forte. I paesi socialisti hanno spesso questo tipo di statue che presentano i contadini, gli operai, i soldati, ecc.

Evening lights - Luci di sera - सँध्या बाती

त्रफालगर स्क्वायर, लंदन, ब्रिटेनः जब संध्या सोने की तैयारी में आकाश में गहरी चादर बिछाती है, बत्तियाँ जलने लगती हैं, उस पल की तस्वीरें अच्छी लगती हैं जिनमें व्यक्ति और वस्तुओं के बीच की सीमाएँ घुलमिल सी जाती हैं, जब रोशनी तस्वीरों पर रंगीन, आड़ी टेढ़ी लकीरें खींच देती है.

Trafalgar square, London, UK: When the evening prepares for the night and spreads its dark blanket on the sky, when the lights are switched on, I like to catch that moment in the pictures, when the boundries between people, places and things get confused and when lights draws zigzagging colurful ights on the pictures.

Street shops - Bancarelle - सड़क पर दुकान

हैदराबाद, भारतः मैं, मेरा के आत्मकेंद्रित जीवन से कभी बाहर झाँकू तो आसपास बहते जीवन के सपने, आशाएँ, कहानियाँ देख सुन कर मन नहीं भरता. जब किसी यात्रा में लोगों से बात न करने को मिले तो लगता है कि यात्रा में कुछ कमी रह गयी. हैदराबाद की चार मीनार के पास इस सड़क पर जीवन की कहानियाँ अंतहीन थीं.

Hyderabad, India: I, my, mine, if I can get out of such self-centered world, then I can't have enough of listening and watching the incessant flow of life, dreams and hopes. If in a travel, I can't speak to people, I feel as if something vital was missing from the journey. There were infinite stories to listen to in this street of Hyderabad, near the famous Char Minaar.

Hyderabad, India: Io, mio, se riesco a uscire dal mio mondo chiuso, mi affascina ascoltare e guardare la corrente incessante della vita con le sue speranze, sogni e racconti. Se durante un viaggio, non risco a parlare con le persone, mi sembra che manchi qualcosa di importante da quel viaggio. Su questa strada di Hyderabad, vicino il Char Minaar, i racconti erano infiniti.

Light & Shadows - Luci e Ombre - धूप और छाँव

सगसाई, बायन उल्गीई, मँगोलियाः बिना पेड़ों के पहाड़ों की मिट्टी में छुपे अनगिनत रँग और उन पर बादलों की लुका छिपी से धूप और छाँव की चित्रकारी, देख कर मनमुग्ध हो गया.

Sagsai, Bayan Ulgii, Mongolia: Treeless hills and mountains showing infinite shades of colours and the play of clouds making patterns of sunlight and shadows, was breathtaking.

Sagsai, Bayan Ulgii, Mongolia: Monti e montagne senza alberi con un'infinità di colori e il gioco delle nuovle che disegnavano con luci e ombre, erano spettacoli indimenticabili.

Beijing olypmpics - Olimpiedi di Pecchino - बेजिंग ओलिम्पिक्स

बेजिंग, चीनः आज ओलिम्पिक्स खेल प्रारम्भ होने वाले हैं. जून के अंत में जब मँगोलिया से आते समय एक दिन के लिए बेजिंग रुका था तो त्यिआन आ मेन स्कवायर में लगी ओलिम्पिक घड़ी दिखा रही थी कि अभी खेलों के प्रारम्भ में ४४ दिन बाकी हैं, इस समय उस घड़ी में कुछ घँटे ही बचे होंगे. नया बेजिंग हवाई अड्डा दुनिया में सबसे बड़ा है और बहुत सुंदर बना है. चीन वासियों का गर्व स्पष्ट महसूस होता था, हालाँकि हर तरफ़, हर समय पर्यावरण दूषण की वजह से छाई धुँध थोड़ी सी अजीब लगी थी. आशा है कि यह खेल शाँतीपूर्ण होंगे (और भारत के खिलाड़ी भी कुछ अच्छा कर के दिखायेंगे)

Beijing, China: Today the Beijing olympics will be inaugurated. At the end of June, coming back from Mongolia, I had stopped in Beijing for a day. In Tian-a-men square, the olympics clock was showing that 44 days still remained for the games, today that clock must be showing only a few hours to the start of games. I loved the new Beijing airport, it is supposed to be the biggest in the world and in China, the pride of the Chinese about their achievements is very palpable. Let us hope that the games will be peaceful.

Pecchino, Cina: Oggi, fra qualche ora inizieranno i giochi olimpici a Pecchino. A fine di giugno, ero passato da Pecchino mentre tornavo dalla Mongolia. Quel giorno, l'orologio olimpico nella piazza Tien-a-men mostrava che mancavano 44 giorni ali giochi, oggi quell'orologio segnerà le poche ore rimaste. Mi è piaciuto anche il nuovo aeroporto di Pecchino, che si dice che sia il più grande del mondo, e si sentiva l'orgoglio dei cinesi per quelli che sono riusciti a raggiungere. Spero che saranno giochi segnati dalla pace.

City of canals - Città dei Canali - नहरों का शहर

कोमाकियो, इटलीः जब नहरों वाले शहरों की बात होती है तो उनमें से सबसे प्रसिद्ध शहर है वेनिस और उसके बाद एमस्टरडेम, कोमाकियो का नाम तो थोड़े से लोग ही जानते हैं. वेनिस के करीब सौ किलोमीटर दक्षिण में समुद्र तट पर बसे इस शहर में वेनिस या एमस्टरडेम की तरह भव्य, सजे धजे घर नहीं है, पर अपनी सादगी और साधारणता में ही इस शहर की सुंदरता है.

Comacchio, Italy: When we talk of cities with canals, the first name that comes to mind is that of Venice and then, of Amsterdam. Very few people know of Comacchio. About a 100 km south of Venice, this small city on the Adriatic sea coast does not boast of beautiful, painted antique houses like Venice or Amsterdam, its beauty lies in its sober simplicity.

Comacchio, Italia: Quando si parla delle città dei canali, la città più famosa è Venezia, seguita da Amsterdam. Relativamente, Comacchio è conosciuto da pochi. A sud di Venezia, sulla costa adriatica, questa piccola cittadina non ha le belle case antiche di Venezia o di Amsterdam, ma forse la sua bellezza sta proprio nella sua semplicità.

Mongolian Children - Bimbi della Mongolia - मँगोलिया के बच्चे

मँगोलिया: मुझे बच्चों की तस्वीर खींचना बहुत अच्छा लगता है. अधिकतर तस्वीरें इन बच्चों के घरों के आसपास खींची जब हम लोगों से मिलने जाते थे. इस लिए तस्वीरें देखूँ तो बहुत सी बातें याद आ जाती हैं. जैसे बिल्ली के साथ वाले छोटे बच्चे की तस्वीर जो बायन उल्गीई में सगसाई जिले में खींची थी, और वह बच्चा बहुत प्यारा था, जी करता था कि गोद में उठा कर उसके फ़ूलें गालों को चूम लो.

Mongolia: I love taking pictures of children. Most of these were children that I had the opportunity to know when I visited their homes. So when I look at these pictures, I remember other things about them and about that visit. Like the picture of small baby with the cat in a Ger in Sagsai soum of Bayan Ulgii, he was so cuddly.

Mongolia: Amo scattare foto ai bambini. La maggior parte di bambini in queste foto sono quelli che avevo visitato nelle loro case e guardare le foto mi pensare ad altre emozioni legate a quelle visite. Come la foto del piccolo bimbo con il gatto in un Ger di Sagsai nella provincia di Bayan Ulgii, faceva venire voglia di prenderlo in braccio.

Changing Times - Tempi Cambiati - समय का फ़ेर

एक्वीलेईया, इटलीः एक बार मेरे एक अफ्रीकी मित्र बहुत निराश थे, उनका लम्बे समय तक बहुत मेहनत से किया गया काम असफल रहा था, बोले, "हम पुल ही बनाते रह गये, वहाँ नदियाँ सूख गयीं". एक्वीलेईया गया तो कुछ वैसा ही महसूस हुआ था. एक समय में यह शहर प्रसिद्ध और सफल था जिसकी गवाही उसका प्राचीन बँदरगाह और अन्य खण्डहर देते हैं. पर जिन दो नदियों पर यह बँदरगाह बना था वे लुप्त हो चुकी हैं या शायद उन्होंने रास्ते बदल लिये. अब बस एक छोटा सा भूला हुआ शहर है.

Aquileia, Italy: Once a friend in Africa, whose long and hard work had been unsuccessful, had said, "I was busy building the bridge but in the meantime the river had dried up." When I visited Aquileia, I had similar feeling. Once it was a famous and successful town as can be seen from its huge port and other ruins. The two rivers on which the port was made are lost today and now it is a small forgotten city.

Aquileia, Italia: Una volta in Africa, un amico scoraggiato da un insuccesso, aveva detto, "Ero troppo preso dalla costruzione del ponte, ma nel frattempo il fiume era sparito!" Quando ho visto Aquileia ho pensato a questa frase. Una volta era una città famosa e di successo, come si può vedere dal suo imponente porto e altre rovine. I due fiumi che servivono questo porto hanno forse cambiato strada ed è soltanto una piccola cittadina, un po' dimenticata.
